ANNISTON — A Gadsden woman was set on fire by an Anniston man on Sunday, December 5, at approximately 8 a.m.
According to the Anniston Police Department, officers and investigators of the Anniston Police department responded to the 800 block of West 16th Street in reference to a person on fire. Leslie C. Hogeland, 36, was located walking down the road with severe burns.
Hogeland was transported to Northeast Alabama Regional Medical Center, and later transferred to another facility
“Investigators began an investigation and determined that a crime did occur,” Sergeant Jason Hawkins said. “A suspect was located and arrested. Henry L. Wesley, 54, was charged with Attempted Murder.”
The relationship between the suspect and the victim has not yet been released.
Wesley is being held in the Calhoun County Jail on a $100,000 bond. He has a court date set for January 10, 2022.
