HOOVER — Hoover head football coach Josh Niblett has resigned, and a social media post by the Hoover football team implies that the multi-time state champion coach is headed to Georgia to ply his trade.
Hoover, which competes in 7A Region 3 along with Hewitt-Trussville, will now begin its search for a new coach.
“171-26 record, 6 state titles, 92-8 in your region! Legendary work @JoshNiblett,” the post states, “and good luck in Georgia! You’ve earned a retirement in Alabama! You’ve done it as good as anyone has done it. Go Bucs and good luck.”
Niblett led Hoover to a 12-1 record this season, including a regular-season victory over eventual state champion Thompson. Niblett took over the Bucs program following the departure ofRush Propst, who resigned in October of 2007.
Niblett finished his Hoover career with a 92-8 record in region play and was 49-8 in the playoffs.
Prior to coming to Hoover, he coached three years at Oxford and five at Oneonta, where he won the 2004 Class 3A state championship.
