LEEDS – The Leeds Board of Education met briefly on Tuesday, Dec. 14 where two teachers were hired to the elementary school.
No financial report was given at the meeting, which began with superintendent John Moore discussing hiring personnel to the school system.
Lisa Andrews was hired to teach fifth grade. She comes from the Clay County School District. Estelle Sinyard was hired to teach sixth grade math.
“I’m looking forward to welcoming them onboard in January,” Moore commented.
Moore mentioned that school systems are experiencing a nationwide shortage of teachers due to a decline in student enrollment. He said that with these two teachers the system is fully staffed.
Shortly before the meeting was adjourned the board briefly discussed the schedule for Leeds football. Upcoming region games include Alexandria, St. Clair, Lincoln, Moody, Southside, and Springville. A schedule with times can be seen on Maxpreps.com.
A special called board session is scheduled for Jan. 13, 2022, at 6 p.m. The Leeds Board of Education Building is located at 1517 Hurst Avenue.
