BIRMINGHAM — The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office has identified a man who was killed in a two-vehicle accident that shut down I-59 North for part of Thursday morning.
Shawn C. Wandry, 50, of Hoover was killed when the pickup truck he was driving struck a dumpster truck that was stopped in traffic near a construction zone on the Interstate near the North Chalkville Road exit (mile marker 141.5) in Trussville.
“The decedent was the driver and lone occupant of a Ford F150 pickup truck traveling north on Interstate 59 North and approaching a construction zone,” Jefferson County Deputy Coroner William Yates said. “The decedent’s vehicle struck the rear of a dumpster truck that was stopped in traffic due to road construction. The cause and circumstances surrounding the traffic accident are being investigated by the Trussville Police Department.”
