LEEDS —The Leeds Police Department (LPD) hosted “Shop with a Cop” on Monday, December 2o.
“Our officers raised money during their no shave November and wanted to do something for the families in the community that have a need,” LPD Cheif Paul Irwin said. “I contacted Superintendent John Moore and Principal Justin Burns on selecting kids in the community that have a need.”
Fifteen fifth graders from Leeds Elementary School were selected for “Shop with a Cop.” Each child received a $250 gift card to shop with a Leeds Police Officer at Trussville Academy Sports. The children could use the money to buy for themselves or for others.
“We are very excited about this event and as the new chief here in Leeds I know this will make an impact on our relationship with the community and I am proud of the excitement and commitment of our officers and employees for this event,” Irwin said. “I know this is going to make a lot of kids and their families happy during this special time of the year.”
