Dwight Deon Stone, age 68 of Pinson, AL and recently of Fairhope, was reunited with his beloved wife and son on December 13, 2021.
Dwight was born on July 15, 1953, to Waymon and Elna Stone in Arab, Alabama. Dwight graduated from Glenn Iris High School and married the love of his life, Maria (Maryhelen), in 1985. They had two children, Michael Wayne and Christina Elaine. Dwight worked as a welder and machinist for over 25 years.
Dwight loved Alabama football, he enjoyed the atmosphere and tailgating in Tuscaloosa with his brother, Jimmy, or attending football parties with his son-in-law, Jeremiah.
Dwight loved to cook, he married into a Greek family and soon became the designated chef to make spanakopita for all the family gatherings. Dwight always had the best stories; he most definitely lived a full and adventurous life. Dwight also enjoyed playing cards and having breakfast at Ken’s BBQ with is a lifelong best friend, Wayne Chambers. One of his greatest joys was his new grandson, Xander, and I know he cherished the time spent with him. In his final hours, he was home and surrounded by his loving family.
Dwight is survived by his daughter, Christina Elaine Stone Thorne, his son-in-law, Jeremiah Thorne, and his grandson Alexander (Xander) Ashton Thorne. His brothers: Robert Latimer, Jimmy (Deborah) Stone, Bill (Ann) Stone and Kenny Stone; sister Melissa (Kevin) Morrow.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Waymon and Elna Stone; his wife Maria Ellen (Maryhelen) Columbis Stone and their son Michael Wayne Stone.
Visitation will be Saturday, December 18, 2021, at 12 p.m. for family and friends at 1 p.m. The service will begin at 2 p.m. at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home in Trussville; a graveside will immediately follow at Jefferson Memorial’s adjoining cemetery.
