BIRMINGHAM — An arrest has been made in connection to the murder of a Center Point man on Friday, October 29, 2021.
According to the Birmingham Police Department, Eren Johnson, 23, of Birmingham, was arrested for the murder of Malik Tyrese Sutton, 25, after a warrant was obtained for capital murder.
“Johnson was arrested and will remain in the custody of the Jefferson County Jail with no bond,” Sergeant Rodarius Mauldin said.

The incident occurred in the 4200 block Avenue L in Ensley after an altercation ensued in an alley.
“The preliminary investigation suggests officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert when they found the victim lying in a driveway unresponsive suffering from a gunshot wound,” Mauldin said.
Officers were patrolling an alleyway when they observed a male lying unresponsive in a driveway suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel arrived on the scene and pronounced Sutton dead.
