BIRMINGHAM — The Birmingham Police Department (BPD) has identified the 56-year-0ld victim shot and killed in Birmingham on Friday, January 14, at approximately 3:26 a.m.
According to the BPD, Richard Spence, 56, of Birmingham, was involved in an argument with the suspect prior to being shot multiple times. The incident took place at a private residence with several people present.
“Officers from the West Precinct responded to t call of a person shot at 816 7th Avenue Southwest,” Sergeant Rodarius Mauldin said.

Upon arrival, officers were advised that Spence was transported to Princeton Hospital in a private vehicle.
“Officers responded to Princeton Hospital where they learned Richard Spence was pronounced deceased by hospital staff,” Mauldin said.
Investigators are questioning a person of interest. No formal charges have been filed in this case.
