CENTER POINT — Center Point council president appointed to the National League of Cities (NLC) 2022 Community and Economic Development (CED) Federal Advocacy Committee.
According to the NLC, Council President D.M. Collins of Center Point was elected to a one-year term to provide strategic direction and guidance for NLC’s federal advocacy agenda and policy priorities.
“I’m grateful for the opportunity to work with leaders, nationally, advocating for federal policies that positively impact Center Point and other municipalities’ community development,” Collins said.
As a member of NLC’s CED committee, Council President Collins will play a key role among a diverse group of leaders in shaping NLC’s policy positions and advocating on behalf of America’s municipalities before Congress, with the administration, and at home.
“NLC’s federal advocacy committees are a key tool for gathering insights directly from the communities that our members serve,” NLC President Mayor Vince Williams of Union City, Georgia said. “I am excited to have Council President Collins serve on the Community and Economic Development Committee and look forward to working with her to fulfill the promise of America’s cities, towns, and villages.”
The full leadership of this year’s committee will consist of Chair Sharon Weston, Mayor-President of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Vice-Chair Jaime Patino, Councilmember of Union City, California, and Vice-Chair Richard Shaw Councilmember of Hubor Heights, Ohio.
