MONTGOMERY – Hewitt-Trussville’s boys and girls bowling teams will be among the teams competing in the AHSAA North Regional Bowling Championships set for the Shindig Bowling Center in Tuscaloosa beginning Thursday and concluding Friday. Both squads will be competing in the Class 6A/7A division.
Sparkman High, the 2021 6A/7A station champion and East Limestone, the 2021 Class 1A/5A boys’ state champs, will also be competing Tuscaloosa.
Eight boys’ teams and eight girls’ teams in each division advanced out of area play to reach the North Regional Tourney. The same number of qualifiers will be on hand at the South Regional Bowling Championships being held at Eastern Shore Lanes in Spanish Fort. Thompson High School’s Boys, the 2020 state champions, will be in the 6A/7A field at the South competition. Satsuma’s boys will also be in the 1A/5A field. Its girls’ squad won the state girls’ championship last season
but did not advance this year.All 32 teams in each division will be bowling Thursday for Friday’s championship bracket seeding purposes. The top four teams in each class in boys’ and girls’ division will advance to the AHSAA’s sixth annual State Bowling Championships to be hosted by The Alley Bowling Center in Gadsden next week, Jan. 27-28.
The teams competing in this year’s regionals represent 43 schools are represented among the 64 teams competing. Twenty schools have both their girls’ and boys’ teams
in the competition.
