JEFFERSON COUNTY — A Jefferson County Jail inmate was found dead on Sunday, January 23, 2022, at approximately 7:15 p.m.
According to the Jefferson County Sherriff’s Office, a 65-year-old man was found unresponsive in his cell at the Jefferson County Jail. The man was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead by medical personnel.
“The man was being held on the medical floor and was in a cell by himself,” Sergeant Joni Money said. “There were no signs of trauma or foul play.”
The man’s identity is not being released at this time.
