JEFFERSON COUNTY — An 18-year-old was killed, and another man was injured in a shooting in Fairfield on Tuesday, January 25, shortly before 5 a.m.
According to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to the 4400 block of Debardeleben Avenue in Fairfield to investigate reports of a shooting.
“Upon arrival, deputies encountered an 18-year-old male who had been shot multiple times,” Sergeant Joni Money said. “He was pronounced dead at the scene.”
A 23-year-old male who had multiple gunshot wounds was located nearby. He was transported to UAB hospital for treatment of his injuries.
“His condition is unknown at this time,” Money said. Detectives are currently on-scene and are conducting a full investigation into the shootings.”
