ARGO – The Argo City Council, during its regular meeting on Jan. 24, 2022, passed an ordinance approving the replat of the Deer Creek subdivision and the creation of Ridgeview Phase 1, a new subdivision. William J. Arant, the managing member of both Deer Creek Associates LLC and Ridgeview Associates LLC, submitted these proposals to the Argo City Council on Dec. 28, 2021.
According to Ordinance 2022-01-24A, “… Deer Creek Associates, LLC, by and through its managing member, Mr. William J. Arant, submitted a proposed subdivision replat for approval to the City Council of the City of Argo, Alabama, for the proposed resurvey of Deer Creek Crossing, Sector 1…”
The amended subdivision plat and re-layout will apply to lots 19-23, 38-47, 56A, 57A and 65B.
The ordinance also proposed a resizing of Deer Creek Crossing, Sector 1, Lot 75A.
Furthermore, the document states that “… Ridgeview Associates, LLC, by and through its managing member, Mr. William J. Arant, submitted a proposed subdivision plat for a new subdivision of single family residences called Ridgeview Subdivision Phase 1 to consist of a residential subdivision situated in the West ½ of the SW ¼ of Section 26, Township 15 South, Range 1 East, St. Clair County, City of Argo, Alabama.”
Following a public hearing on the proposals, the city council voted to approve Ordinance 2022-01-24A, with Mayor Betty Bradley abstaining due to her husband having previous work relations with Arant.
The council also unanimously approved Resolution 2022-01-24, declaring certain property owned by the city of Argo as surplus and authorizing its disposition.
The following equipment was declared surplus:
- 2005 Crown Vic
- 2012 Dodge Charger
- 2013 Dodge Charger
- 2015 Dodge Charger
In other business, the council passed a motion to approve payment for worker’s compensation in the amount of $49,767.
Mayor Bradley reminded the public to go to the city’s website, www.cityofargo.org, and fill out the survey for broadband internet.
The council will be holding a special-called meeting on Monday, Jan. 31, at 5 p.m., to discuss potential uses for American Rescue Plan Act funds. The heads of all city of Argo departments have been invited to this meeting to join in the discussion. The meeting will be open to the public.
The next regular meeting of the Argo City Council will be Monday, Feb. 14, 2022. The meeting will immediately follow a 5 p.m. work session.
