BIRMINGHAM — The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office has identified a woman killed in a Sunday, January 30, wreck.
Asia Rashay Heard, 36, of Birmingham died after she was struck head-on when a 2000 Ford Mustang veered into the lane occupied by Heard’s Kia Optima.
“The decedent driver and lone occupant of a Kia Optima traveling north on Killough Drive,” Deputy Coroner Bill Yates stated. “For unknown reason(s) a 2000 Ford Mustang, traveling south on Killough Drive, crossed over into the decedent’s lane and struck the decedent’s vehicle head on. The Birmingham Police Department is investigating the circumstances surrounding the wreck.”
Heard was pronounced dead at the scene.
The condition of the driver of the Mustang is not currently known. This story will be updated if the driver of that vehicle is charged with a crime.
