AUBURN — According to On3.com’s Matt Zenitz, Auburn rising junior wideout Ja’Varrius Johnson has entered the transfer portal. Johnson, a 2019 Hewitt-Trussville graduate, played in 12 games for the Tigers in 2021 as Auburn went 6-7 overall and 3-5 in Southeastern Conference play.
Johnson is the third Auburn wide receiver to enter the portal this offseason, joining Elijah Canion and Kobe Hudson, the Opelika-Auburn News reports. Canion is now at Purdue, while Hudson is at UCF.
Auburn has made headlines recently for the departure of its just-hired offensive coordinator Austin Davis left the Tigers this week due to “personal reasons.”
Johnson had 19 receptions for 274 yards and two touchdowns last fall. His most productive game came against Mississippi State on Nov. 13, when he had four receptions for 102 yards.
