TRUSSVILLE — The new City Bowls location in Trussville is looking for help. Barber Companies has been renovating the “Old Bowling Alley” property, and City Bowls will be one of the establishments to move into that building.
City Bowls is a family-owned establishment serving the public since 2017, first through its food truck, and then expanded its company in 2018 when they opened its first establishment in Vestavia. Owner and Founder of City Bowls, Cory Dill, said the Trussville location plans to open for business by the end of March.
“We serve açaí bowls and pitaya bowls,” Dill said. “I was one of the first people to bring this to Birmingham. First food truck in Alabama, to serve açaí bowls and pitaya bowls. To me, they’re just great meal replacement bowls, and they also are great snack options for people. They are very healthy, high in antioxidants to protein.”
City Bowls offers delicious and nutritious options that they refer to as “superfruit smoothie bowls.”

City Bowls is looking to hire team leaders, managers, shift members, and more. Dill said working at City Bowls is an experience in itself.
“First off, we give every worker free food,” Dill said. “Everybody loves that. Every shift, everybody can get free food. But also, it’s a fun, fast-paced environment. Everybody enjoys it. It’s not a full-scale restaurant, so you’re not going to have to deal with the grease and the dirtiness of that. We have fun; it’s a fast pace in a healthy environment.”
Dill said that City Bowls has received excellent feedback from the community, and he can’t wait to see the store open to customers.
“We took our food truck out [to Trussville],” Dill said. “We’ve been going out there with our food truck for the past three, four years to take the Stockton neighborhood, Kuttin’ Up, Carrington Lakes, Long Meadow, and testing out the waters that way, as I’ve done with all the other locations. The community has been great, and people have been asking since day one to bring a brick-and-mortar to Trussville, and we finally had the opportunity. So here we are.”
Dill explained that City Bowls would be the only açaí company in Trussville.
“I don’t think anybody else offers açaí or pitaya bowls in Trussville, and on the healthy side things, there’s not too many of those options either,” Dill said. “Trussville is growing like crazy. So I’m sure they’ll have other places pop up similar to us, but we’re looking forward to being out there.”
