JEFFERSON COUNTY — The Jefferson County Coroner, William Yates, is requesting the public’s assistance in locating the family of the following individuals.
Derrick Conrad Davidson, 54, of Birmingham, died on February 2, 2022, at 3:19 p.m. Davidson was found unresponsive inside his private apartment by apartment management performing a welfare check in the Eastlake House Apartment. Yates said he died of natural causes. All attempts to locate his family have failed.
James Effinger, 58, of Birmingham, died on February 5, 2022, at 9:54 a.m. Effinger was found unresponsive sitting outside on the ground at the Publix Super Market at 20 Midtown in the 200 block of 20th Street South in Birmingham.
Effinger was transported to UAB Hospital, where he later died. Yates has not determined the cause of death.
All attempts to locate family have failed so far. Effinger had no emergency contact information listed with local homeless shelters. A check of his past addresses failed to locate his family.
Samuel Earl Pierce, 67, of Birmingham, died on February 12, 2022, at 11:56 a.m. He was found unresponsive inside his motel room at the USA Economy Lodge by motel staff performing a welfare check.
All attempts to locate family have failed. Yates has not determined the cause of death.
Authorities are seeking to reunite these deceased persons with their families, who may not even know that they have passed away.
