Odis Otto Ousley passed away on Saturday, February 19th, 2022, at the age of 95.
Ousley was a veteran of two conflicts, serving as a U.S. Navy Seabee during WWII and then in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. Ousley was also a longtime employee of both Connors Steel Company and SMI Steel, retiring after a career spanning nearly 40 years.
Ousley was a devoted member of several church communities during his life, including West Woodlawn Baptist, 85th Street Baptist Church, and Deerfoot Baptist Church serving as a Deacon of each church.
When not serving others, Ousley was an avid golfer and bowler, a supporter of Isabella Mustang sports, enjoyed singing, Lemon Ice-Box Pie, Banana Pudding, and Buddy Bars. Those who met him never forgot him.
Ousley was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Sylvia Langston Ousley, and is survived by his son Robert J. Ousley (Ida) and daughter Nancy O. Pinson (Robert); three grandchildren, Adam T. Pinson, Oakleigh C. Pinson, and Andrea L. Ellis (Alex); one great-grandchild, Caroline J. Pinson; and a host of nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Bill Nichols Veterans Home in Alexander City for all of the care they gave our O’Fella and would ask that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or other charity or service organization.
