BIRMINGHAM — An officer-involved shooting in Birmingham on Wednesday, February 23, at approximately 5:54 p.m.
According to the Birmingham Police Department (BPD), officers encountered the suspect in the Tom Brown Village Housing Community. A foot pursuit ensued, which led to the 4300 block of Morris Avenue.
“During the interaction, the suspect was shot,” Sergeant Rodarius Mauldin said. “Officers immediately rendered aid and summoned medical attention from Birmingham Fire and Rescue.”
The suspect was pronounced dead on the scene and will be identified upon notification of next of kin.
“There were no officers injured during this incident,” Mauldin said. “Alabama Law Enforcement Agency will be the lead investigative agency.”
