BIRMINGHAM — A 38-year-old Bessemer man was shot dead early Saturday morning, February 25, and police believe two other people were injured during what they call an “altercation” inside a biker bar.
Officers believe Jones was just one victim of gun violence at the club.
“Officers arrived on the scene and observed an adult female victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound,” BPD Media Relations Officer Truman Fitzgerald stated. “During this time, a Birmingham Police officer was at BPD Headquarters when the officer heard a car crash in the 1700 block of 1st Avenue North. Upon further investigation, the officer observed the driver of the vehicle suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.”
The driver’s vehicle collided with two parked vehicles, Fitzgerald reported.
“Birmingham Fire and Rescue (BFR) personnel arrived on both scenes. They transported the female victim to UAB Hospital with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound,” Fitzgerald stated. “BFR pronounced the male victim in front of BPD Headquarters deceased on the scene. Officers also learned an additional adult female victim showed up at UAB Hospital with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.
Fitzgerald reported that the preliminary investigation suggests an altercation ensued inside of the location prior to the suspect firing shots. This is Birmingham’s 21 st murder investigation of 2022 including 1 justifiable death ruling.
There is no suspect in custody at this time.
