TRUSSVILLE — It’s a good time to be a Husky. The Hewitt-Trussville varsity team defeated Helena 3-0 on Friday evening while the Hewitt Middle School team won the Perfect Game Middle School Tournament on Saturday, including a no-hitter by the Huskies’ starting pitcher.
During the varsity’s victory over Helena, Baker Green struck out 13, shutting out the (other) Huskies and throwing a complete game.
Matt Miller had a solo homer in sixth, while Ethan Duhon got an RBI single in the third. Early in the season, Hewitt-Trussville is 5-0 and plays at Northridge on Monday, February 28.
The middle schoolers won the Perfect Game tournament on Saturday, their second year in a row winning that specific tournament.
In the morning game against Auburn, the Huskies won 4-0 when Gavin Beaver threw a no-hitter, striking out nine in the complete game. Lane Bilodeaux recorded two hits including a triple and had two RBIs.
