BIRMINGHAM — The Birmingham Police Department is searching for suspects in the Saturday, March 5 shooting of a 13-year-old boy.
Police have identified Jaylon Palmore of Birmingham as the victim.
“At approximately 2:50 p.m., officers from the East precinct responded to the location on a call of two people shot,” BPD public information officer Truman Fitzgerald reported Sunday morning. “Upon arrival officers observed the victim … on the ground with a gunshot wound to the abdomen. A second (adult) victim sustained a gunshot wound to the arm. Both were transported to local area hospitals. Detectives were later notified by Children’s Hospital of Alabama that … Palmore succumb to his injuries.”
Authorities believe the two were potentially victims of a drive-by shooting.
The preliminary investigation suggests shots were fired from two (unknown make/model) vehicles,” Fitzgerald stated. “Detectives have not established a clear motive in this case. No arrest has been made.”
This is Birmingham’s 24th murder investigation in 2022.
