TRUSSVILLE — With mild temperatures and lights clouds, there must be a million ways to spend a beautiful Sunday afternoon. Unfortunately, some locals are watching the time tick away while waiting in long gas line.
Sam’s in Trussville was the only gas retailer located in the city that was still offering gasoline as low as $3.699 per gallon for regular on Sunday. The rest of the gas stations on North Chalkville Road ranged from $3.979 to $3.999 for regular. Premium gas and diesel are well over $4 per gallon.
According to AAA, the average gas price for in Alabama on Sunday was $3.84 per gallon for regular. The national average was $4.01 per gallon.
The spike in prices is being blamed on the war between Russia and Ukraine. However, gas prices in the United States rose sharply over the last year due in part to the green policies implemented by the Biden administration. In Alabama, an increase in the gas tax is also showing up at the pump.
