JEFFERSON COUNTY — Pleasant Grove High School (PGHS) switches to remote learning Thursday, March 10 and Friday, March 11, after several students were involved in a fight on campus.
According to WBRC News, Principal Jarvis Watkins released a letter to a the parents and guardians of PGHS students stating that the switch to remote learning was to “ensure student safety and to allow things to calm down.”
WBRC including the letter from Watkins that stated that “this type of behavior has no place in our school or our district.” The letter also mentions that those students involved will be held accountable for their actions, and the school will increase “law enforcement presence on campus when in-person classes resume.”
Watkins also stated in the letter that breakfast and lunch will still be available to students during the remote learning days in the bus pick-up lane between 9:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.
The letter states that sudents are expected to complete assignments made available through Schoology. “All Faculty and Staff will be on campus and available through email” if a student needs help on an assignment.
