LEEDS — The Green Wave weathered an early onslaught from McAdory after Sophie Sisk doubled, stole third and then scored on an error by the Yellow Jackets’ catcher, Mikeria Howard to end the game.
Emma Machen started in the circle for Leeds, giving up five runs on 11 hits and striking out six over the course of 6 2/3 innings. McAdory jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first and added two more in the top of the fourth, but Leeds fought back in the bottom of the inning to cut the score to 5-2.
The Green Wave added three more runs in the bottom of the sixth to tie it up, and then win it when Sisk came home on Sophie Gromko’s hit. Gromko was 1-for-3 on the night, but that last hit was the big one.
Zoie Galloway came on in relief to get the final out in the top of the seventh, and gets credited with the victory.
At the plate, Galloway went 2-for-3 with a home run, scored twice and had 3 RBIs. Sisk was 1-for-3 with the double and a walk, and she scored twice. Maddie Payne was 2-for-3 with a pair of RBIs as well.
