MONTGOMERY — The Alabama High School Athletics Association has announced area realignments for winter and spring sports, which will affect several area teams.
Basketball
For Springville, which drops down to Class 5A, the Tigers will move into Area 11 along with Leeds, Moody and St. Clair County.
Class 6A Area 12 now only holds three teams: Pinson Valley, Clay-Chalkville and Mortimer Jordan. Center Point gets a tough draw in 6A Area 11. The Eagles will be playing basketball against 2021-22 6A finalist Huffman, as well as Gardendale. Area 11 also only has three teams.
In Class 7A, Hewitt-Trussville is in Area 6 along with Chelsea, Spain Park and Oak Mountain.
Bowling
Area teams in 6A and 7A will see a lot of familiar faces in Region 7, where Hewitt-Trussville, Clay-Chalkville, Pinson, Center Point will face off against Gadsden City, Huffman, Oxford and Shades Valley.
Wrestling
In 7A, Hewitt-Trussville will be in section 2, facing teams from the northern half of the state. The Huskies will compete in Duals 3 against Chelsea, Hoover, Oak Mountain, Spain Park, Thompson, Tuscaloosa County and Vestavia Hills.
In 6A, Center Point, Clay-Chalkville and Pinson Valley are all slated into Section 2. Center Point and Pinson Valley have been sorted into Region 5 for Duals along with Gardendale, Huffman and Mortimer Jordan. Clay-Chalkville is in Region 6 for Duals along with Gadsden City, Oxford, Pell City and Shades Valley.
In 5A, Leeds, Springville and Moody are in Section 2. They are all in Region 3 for Duals, along with Hayden, Jasper, Lincoln and St. Clair County.
