BRIGHTON — A motorcyclist fired a shot at a Brighton Police Officer during a chase on Friday, March 18, just before 9 p.m.
According to Carol Robinson at AL.com, a white motorcycle was traveling without headlights and at a high rate of speed in the 4500 block of Bessemer Super Highway northbound.
The Brighton officer stopped the motorcyclist at the Chevron on Bessemer Super Highway in Midfield and informed him that his headlights were off. The motorcyclist reportedly flipped him off, left the scene, and a short pursuit ensued.
During the pursuit, the suspect wrecked and continued on foot. The suspect fired one shot at the officer while heading toward the nearby Auto Zone.
The officer was not wounded or injured during the pursuit.
Robinson stated that a second chase ensued after the suspect got into a white Dodge Charger and fled through Lipscomb and Bessemer. The pursuit was called off due to the high traffic volume in the area.
The investigation is ongoing.
