Janice Irene Haynes Bladon went home peacefully to be with her Heavenly Father on March 20, 2022, in Trussville, Alabama. Janice was born to the late Randall and Ethel Haynes on July 26, 1938, in Lenox, Iowa. Janice had a very busy and active life and was blessed with her family and many friends across the country.
She graduated from Lenox high school in 1956. She married Frank Bladon in 1956, and they moved to Ames and later to Creston, Iowa. They raised two daughters and later divorced.
Janice was a homemaker for many years. She worked for Creston Community Schools from 1979 until 1985. In 1985 Janice moved to Alabama to work as a secretary at Schreiber Corporation. She also worked several years at JWF Machine Shop. She then worked at Chalkville Elementary School until retiring. She was very active in her church and participated in the bell choir, and was a charter member of the ceramics group. Janice loved her Open Door Sunday school class! She also loved to play cards and was a part of several bridge groups. She also enjoyed many hours playing tennis, golf, and volleyball! But her passion was her family. She enjoyed every event, recital, practice, ball game, celebration – you name it – she was there for her grandkids!
And then there’s sports! She absolutely loved watching almost any sport, but she LOVED her Alabama Crimson Tide! Every Saturday in the Fall, you could find her watching College GameDay starting at 8:00 a.m. and all the games throughout the day! She would frequently send a text that only said, Roll Tide Roll!
In addition to her parents, Janice was preceded in death by her sister Doris Moore, sister Marcia Bolinger and her husband Kenny, brother in law Claire Bolinger, and four nephews.
She is survived by her daughters Sheila and her husband Bryan Gonseth of Madison, Mississippi, and Brenda and her husband Keith McCay of Waukee, Iowa. Her precious grandchildren, Meredith (Jim) Brewer of Warr Acres, Oklahoma, Tyler (Emily) Gonseth of Madison, Mississippi, Miranda McCay of Decorah, Iowa, and Kyle (Brooke) Gonseth of Panama City, Florida. Also survived by her great-grandchildren Judah, Jorie, Eleanor, and Theo Brewer and Brantley Gonseth. Also survived by her brother Fred and his wife Joyce Haynes of Lenox, Iowa, and her sister Margaret Bolinger of Creston, Iowa. As well as numerous nieces and nephews and her dear friends Bill and Cindy Nielsen of Trussville, Alabama.
A memorial service is planned for 1:00 p.m. Sunday, March 27, 2022, at Trussville First United Methodist Church. The service will be live-streamed on their Facebook page – Trussville First UMC. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be directed to Trussville First UMC United Methodist Men at 120 N. Chalkville Rd, Trussville, Alabama. We invite you to join us in wearing your Alabama Crimson Tide gear in honor of Janice.
