TUSCALOOSA — The Shades Valley Mounties picked up a pair of wins here on Saturday, March 26, topping Paul W. Bryant High School 17-7 in game one and then turning around to beat Northside 9-4.
The Mounties are on a five-game win streak, winning 11 of 15 over the month of March.
Game 1: Shades Valley 17, Paul W. Bryant 7
The Mounties were powered by Avery Prichard, who went 2-for-3 at the plate and also walked twice, scoring five times. Stephen Manley went 2-for-5, driving in three runs, and Joshua Moore went 2-for-3 with an RBI and scoring twice.
Xavion Webb went 1-for-3 at the plate with a walk and an RBI and scored twice.
Matt Wyatt got the win, pitching two innings and allowing one hit and two runs while striking out one batter. Wyatt helped his own cause at the plate, going 2-for-2 with an RBI and scoring a run.
Game 2: Shades Valley 9, Northside 4
Jamiel Saliba pitched 5 1/3 innings, striking out eight batters and allowing four runs on four hits to take the win against Northside.
J’Caius Moore went 2-for-3 at the plate with four RBIs, while Xavion Webb went 2-for-3 with a walk and scored for the Mounties, while Avery Prichard went 2-for-4 and scored. Jacob Mahand went 1-for-3 with an RBI and scored.
The Mounties will play again Monday, March 28, at 6 p.m. at Satsuma High School.
