TRUSSVILLE — The Trussville Police Department (TPD) has identified the suspect in the Synovus Bank altercation that occurred on Sunday, March 27.
According to the TPD, Michael Jeremy Downs, 47, of Trussville, was arrested by the TPD and charged with aggravated assault second degree (on a Police Officer-Strong Arm) with a bond of $15,000 and resisting arrest with a bond of $6,000.
Downs was transported to the Jefferson County Jail on Sunday, March 29, where he is eligible to make a bond.

Officers were dispatched to Synovus Bank in Trussville on a report of a suspicious/disorderly person.
“Officers arrived on the scene to make contact,” Lieutenant Clint Riner said. “While officers attempted to evaluate the situation, the suspect became aggressive towards the officers.”
Riner said the extent of the injuries is unknown at this time, but both a Trussville police officer and the suspect were to a local hospital for their injuries.
