BIRMINGHAM — Three people were wounded when gunfire erupted in the western part of the city early Sunday morning, April 3.
“At approximately 1:00 a.m., officers from the west precinct responded to a call of several shots fired in a crowded parking lot outside of a night club and event center located at 1115 Bankhead Highway,” BPD spokesman Rodarius Mauldin said. “Subsequently officers were dispatched to the Citgo Gas Station located at 1101 Bankhead Highway where officers found an adult male on the ground wounded by gunfire. The male victim was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Officers were s also dispatched to 1164 Arkadelphia Rd and discovered two females in the parking lot of Marathon gas station suffering from gunshot wounds. Both were transported to local area hospitals with serious injuries, however their conditions were last listed as stable. “
Mauldin said that he preliminary investigation indicates a large crowd was gathered in the parking lot when gunfire erupted. Detectives believe the three wounded victims were shot at 1115 Bankhead Highway and fled to other locations. There are no suspects in custody.
