A water filtration system not only improves the taste of water, but also prevents skin irritation, reduces plumbing issues, helps to save money on soaps and provides cleaner clothes. Most people don’t understand or realize these benefits, just simply due to a lack of knowledge. Insert . . . Aqua Systems. While this 23 year old Birmingham based company specializes in selling the filtration products, they believe the best purchase comes from an informed and educated buyer, and won’t hesitate to take the time to answer the important questions a potential buyer may have, before ever trying to push a product on you.
President of Aqua Systems, Chris Sims, states, “we pride ourselves on being easy to do business with. A lot of our customers don’t get pricing over the phone or anything like that until we get out to your house. We are a very ‘open book’ and transparent when it comes to how much things cost, what the cost of the installation is, and how it should be installed.”
Sims explains that Aqua Systems has some of the best pricing in the industry because they don’t employ commissioned salespeople. Instead, they will come out to your house, and you can get an honest answer as to what kind of equipment you need.
Sims says, “We’re just very open with people, because our salespeople aren’t on commission. We’re not trying to talk you into anything.”
Everything operates at the customer’s timeline, and Aqua Systems will be there when you need them.
“Whether a customer is ready to do something while we’re there, if they want to wait one month, one year, 10 years . . . whatever it is, that’s fine with us,” Sims said. “A lot of people choose us because of that. They don’t feel any pressure, once we get to their house and test the water and give them some ideas of what they would need to make the water better.”
The most popular system is the whole house water filter system. This particular system filters out the chemicals, smells, and bad tastes of the water. This process softens the water and makes it more desirable for customers.
The city puts chlorine in the water to kill bacteria and keep it safe before it gets to your house. Sims explained that there’s more chlorine in the city water than in a swimming pool. So that chlorine will fade your clothes out, and as soon as you get something new and wash it twice, it’s a different color. Aqua Systems works to remove that chlorine, and Sims said that the new water filter difference in the house can make a noticeable difference.
“I get a lot of phone calls from the Trussville area because it’s a growing area,” Sims said. “When they lived somewhere else, they didn’t think too much about the water. Then when they get to Trussville, they realize the water is different.”
Sims explained that people in area code 35173 of Trussville have hard water, while area code 35235 is mostly softer water because it’s Birmingham City Water.
“Trussville is known for having very hard water,” Sims said. “Hard waters dissolve rock like limestone and it leaves a film all over the glass shower doors, on your skin, makes you have dry skin, and greatly shortens the lifespan of appliances like water heaters and dishwashers.”
Sims explained that If you are ever around a sink and see a water spot, that water spot is where the water evaporated, and the hard water deposits are what you see.
“Our systems remove all that,” Sims said. “So, your shower door stays clean. You don’t have soapstone build-up, everybody’s skin and hair are softer, and clothes are softer. Even the breakdown on appliances is like 70 percent better on average.”
The main water line inside of a building will feed water into a system that a technician will install before distributing it out as shower water, drinking water, water used for cleaning clothes, and so on.
Filtration removes impurities from hard water, making it significantly easier on pipes. Hard water can also dry your skin out when you shower or bathe, so filtering it will help take care of that as well. And to top it all off, it can make water taste a lot better.
Sims said that Aqua Systems wants to be the go-to choice when its customers look for reliable and honest feedback about water filtration systems.
“If you start researching water filters, there’s a lot of bad information on the internet or information that doesn’t apply to the water here in our area,” Sims said. “So we have a lot of people call and ask lots of questions and even have us come out and test the waters, and they may take that information and buy something somewhere else and solve it themselves. We’re okay with that, we’re happy to help because, at some point, that system probably is going to need service in some way. Hopefully, they’ll call us if we do right by them, in the beginning, to help them out.”
Aqua Systems works hard to make it easy on the customer.
“We always call before coming to your house either to service or to install or just to talk to you,” Sims said. “We have a software that will send the customer a text that lets them know we’re on the way. It has a picture of the employee, so you’ll know who’s coming to the door, and you can even click on the link and track them like GPS. We try to be more of a communications and customer service company that just happens to sell water filters.” Aqua Systems maintains a website at www.aquasystemsalabama.com, where a great deal of information can be found on the company’s services and education on hard water versus filtered water. In addition, a blog can be found on the site that is regularly updated, providing tips and addressing questions that customers submit.
Aqua Systems is located at 2134 Pelham Parkway in Birmingham.
