TRUSSVILLE — The Trussville Police Department (TPD) is actively investigating a shooting that occurred on I-59 Southbound on Wednesday afternoon.
According to TPD, shots were fired from one vehicle into another near the 141-mile marker just south of North Chalkville Road. A female passenger was reportedly shot in the leg.
Chief Eric Rush said the victim had stopped at Krystal at the 141 exit and the incident officers described as road rage occurred after they returned to southbound Interstate 59.
“Our information indicates the suspect is an older black male with multiple face tatoos in a Ford Focus or Fusion,” Rush said. “He was last seen exiting the Interstate at Roebuck Parkway.”
The suspect’s vehicle had a green paper tag. Rush said the victim’s vehicle had been struck by multiple bullets.
The female victim was taken by private vehicle to St. Vincent’s East. Her condition is unknown at this time.
No suspect has been arrested at this time.
