IRONDALE — The Irondale Chamber Luncheon discussed a phenomenon known as the “Great Resignation” on Thursday, April 14, at Pine Tree Country Club.
Mainstream Financial Group sponsored the luncheon, and David Salters of Warren Averett gave the presentation.
Salters shared statistics on why the problem exists and what companies can do to combat it.
“The Great Resignation is a mass exodus of people quitting their jobs even as the pandemic is waning. The U.S. economy still has nearly 4 million fewer workers than in February 2020, the month before the shutdown of 2020,” Salters said. “Many people have their own cycles for buying homes and cars. The same applies for their job change cycle. They may quit for a variety of reasons: burnout, company changes, lack of flexibility, not feeling valued, insufficient benefits, etc.”
Salters also shared a few ways to increase your company’s likelihood of hiring or keeping employees. Those include speeding up your hiring process if you find a good candidate, evaluating the job requirements for all positions, offering hybrid work options, increasing the wages, and clearing the path for advancement.
