TRUSSVILLE — The Eastern Women’s Committee of Fifty (EWCF) held its annual Art Competition for area high school art students on Thursday, April 14, at the Trussville Public Library.
High Schools participating this year were Springville, Moody, Center Point, Pinson Valley, and Hewitt-Trussville. Criteria for art submitted were limited to oils, acrylics, tempera, watercolor, pen and ink, color pencil, mixed media, charcoal, or pastels.
The Judge’s comments were shared for each piece of art. Awards were given for first, second, and third place.
- 1st Place: $150, Jayda Allen, Pinson Valley
- 2nd Place: $100, Stephanie Johnson, Center Point
- 3rd Place: $75, Rouen Dia, Moody
Art Teachers Melissa Jones and Chris Screws from Pinson Valley High School were awarded a $150 gift certificate to Alabama Art Supply for their student placing first.
A drawing was held for a basket full of art supplies valued at $125. The winner of the art basket was Casey Bates of Hewitt Trussville High School.
The EWCF Golf Tournament at Highlands Golf course is on Thursday, May 5. Proceeds from this year’s golf tournament will go to Alzheimer’s of Central Alabama.
