BIRMINGHAM — The Birmingham Police Department (BPD) investigates a burning body found Tuesday, April 19, at approximately 8:01 a.m.
According to Jefferson County Coroner’s Office, A citizen notified authorities after finding human remains and other debris on fire outside a vacant residence in the 4500 block of 5th Avenue Wylam in Birmingham.
Officers located a body, and after Birmingham firefighters extinguished the fire, they pronounced the victim dead.
“The death is being investigated as a homicide,” Chief Deputy Coroner Williams Yates said.
