BIRMINGHAM — The Birmingham Police Department (BPD) has arrested a suspect connected to a recent string of armed business robberies.
According to the BPD, Dedrick Taylor, 30, of Birmingham, was arrested after robbing a Dollar General (4600 5th Avenue South) at gunpoint.
“Birmingham Police Robbery detectives have connected Taylor to additional robberies in Birmingham, including at least four other armed business robberies,” Officer Truman Fitzgerald said.
Taylor is connected to robberies such as:
- Ramada Inn- 5216 Messer Airport Highway, Thursday, April 7, 2022;
- Family Dollar- 7330 1st Avenue North, Monday, April 11, 2022;
- Metro PCS- 7004 1st Avenue North, Wednesday, April 13, 2022; and
- Citgo- 1101 Bankhead Highway West, Thursday, April 14, 2022.
“Birmingham Police Detectives presented information on the cases to the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office,” Fitzgerald said.
After assessing the information, detectives obtained warrants for the following charges: six counts of robbery first-degree of a business and robbery first-degree. Taylor is currently in the custody of the Jefferson County Jail with bonds totaling $580,000.
