SHELBY COUNTY — The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a drowning that occurred on Saturday, April 23, at approximately 3:30 p.m.
According to the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office, Brayden Harden, 19, of Leighton, drowned in the area of Slab Road in the Pea Ridge area. Harden was recovered from the water; however, lifesaving efforts provided by individuals on the scene and by medical personnel were unsuccessful.
Deputies from the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office, along with rescue personnel from the Pea Ridge Volunteer Fire Department and Southeast Shelby Rescue, responded to the call for assistance.
Harden was pronounced dead at the scene.
My heart is with the family and friends of Brayden Harden during this tragedy,” Sheriff John Samaniego stated.
As part of standard procedures, investigators from the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office are investigating the circumstances surrounding Harden’s death. The Shelby County Coroner’s Office was also notified and responded.
The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office would also like to express its appreciation to the Calera Fire Department’s Dive Team for their personnel and equipment that aided in the recovery.
