CLAY — Students from Hewitt-Trussville High School won the girls’ high school state pickleball tournament held here on May 7.
The young women who placed first: Riley Edwards, A.C. Monski, A.K. Monski and Marley Carmichael, while A.C. Bryant & Lacie Shelnutt took home the doubles title.
A combo team from Spain Park High Berry Middle schools won the boys team championship, with Evan Hill, Aidan Monson, Clay Harbison, Jack Wanlass, Michael Johnson and Nicholas Beaupre taking top honors, while Sam Wasko and Jonathan Lewis winning the doubles title.
The City of Clay hosted Alabama High School State Pickleball Tournament, where 22 teams competed this year from 11 different schools in four different counties. Oxford, Spain Park, Berry Middle, Vestavia, Pizitz, Oneonta, Oneonta, HTHS, & HTMS were represented.
