BIRMINGHAM — The Jefferson County Coroner identified a Bessemer man as the victim of a fatal shooting late Friday night, May 6.
Warren Oliver Weatherspoon, 48, of York was shot shortly before midnight at an address on the 2400 block of Berkeley Ave. in Bessemer and transported to UAB Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries at 2:47 a.m. on Saturday.
“he decedent sustained a gunshot wound injuries during a reported assault,” Deputy Coroner Bill Yates stated in a report on Weatherspoon’s demise. “The death is being investigated as a homicide therefore, all questions regarding the circumstances surrounding the death should be made to the Bessemer Police Department.”
