HOMEWOOD — The Jefferson County Coroner’s office has identified the victim of the Homewood restaurant shooting that occurred on Friday, June 3, at approximately 11:53 a.m.

Johnson was shot once in the chest during an apparent altercation and was transported to UAB Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Jerry Jewayne Jones, 39, was arrested for murder; he is being held at Homewood City Jail and will be transferred to the Jefferson County Jail. Jones’ bond is set at $250,000.
The second person who was arrested Friday, June 3, has been released without being charged.
