CENTER POINT—The Center Point City Council is celebrating the city’s 20th anniversary this weekend by hosting a celebratory Gala on Friday, June 17, and a festival on Saturday, June 18.
“This is a huge milestone for the City of Center Point, and we are glad to be able to share this moment and celebrate with our citizens,” Mayor Bobby Scott said.
The Gala that is held on Friday, June 17, will be held at the Hill Crest Manor in Center Point. There will be a special guest named Jeh Jeh Pruitt to pay tribute to those who were instrumental in the city’s origination in 2002.

The Honorees represented at the Gala will be Mayor Tom Henderson, Commissioner Joe Knight, Commissioner Lashaunda Scales, State Representative Rolanda Hollis, and U.S. Senate Congresswoman Terri Sewell, among many others who have contributed to the city.
The Gala event is invite-only and will be held at 7 p.m.
On Saturday, June 18, the council is also hosting a celebration festival at Reed Harvey Park, located in Center Point. This event is open to the public and will start at 12 p.m.
There will be carnival rides, games, food trucks, merchandise vendors, music, and fun.
Mayor Bobby Scott said he is thrilled to celebrate 20 years with the city’s residents and officials from past to present.
