LEEDS — A GoFundMe account has been created to help pay funeral expenses for 2022 Leeds High School graduate Johnathan “Dougie” Douglas’s funeral has been set up.
Douglas drowned at Lake Logan Martin on June 11. Witnesses say Douglas — known as “Dougie” — jumped from a boat near an area known as ‘the Cliffs’ south of Lincoln Harbor. He went underwater and did not resurface.
Divers from Leeds, Lincoln and Pell City recovered his body shortly after 5:30 p.m.
Douglas graduated high school on May 26.
“I have had the pleasure to be Johnathan’s boss at Zaxby’s the past two years,” Carli Walker stated on the GoFundMe page. “We lost an amazing young man on June 11th . He was a son, a brother, a friend, and an amazing coworker. The whole community is grieving from the loss of this young man . If only he new how many life’s he has impacted . He is someone who lights up the whole room with his smile. A heart of gold. He was so excited to start college and had so many goals and dreams.”
