BIRMINGHAM — A 22-year-old man was killed in an apparent assault in Birmingham on Sunday, June 19, at approximately 3:32 p.m.
Birmingham Police Department officers arrived on the scene when they observed Brown lying unresponsive on the sidewalk suffering from an apparent
gunshot wound.
Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel transported Brown to UAB Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
“The circumstances of how the decedent sustained the injury is unclear,” Chief Deputy Coroner William Yates said.
The Birmingham Police Department is investigating the circumstances surrounding the death.
“The preliminary investigation suggests the victim may have been involved in an argument that led to shots being fired,” Officer Truman Fitzgerald said. “This is believed to be an isolated incident.”
Currently, there is no one in custody.
