BIRMINGHAM — An autopsy by the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office has led local police to reclassify a 23-year-old Heflin man’s death as a homicide.
Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel arrived on the scene and pronounced the victim deceased, according to Public Information Officer Truman Fitzgerald.
“This case was originally investigated as an unclassified death,” Fitzgerald stated. “The Jefferson County Medical Examiner’s Office conducted an autopsy on the victim; their preliminary investigation has led to this case being reclassified as a homicide.”
