BIRMINGHAM — The Birmingham Police Department (BPD) is investigating a shooting that occurred on Monday, July 25, at approximately 10:36 p.m.
According to the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office, Frederick Hooks III, 34, of Birmingham, sustained gunshot wound injuries during a reported assault in the 3400 block of Norwood Boulevard in Birmingham.
Hooks was pronounced dead at the scene.
“The death is being investigated as a homicide,” Chief Deputy Coroner Bill Yates said.
