BIRMINGHAM — The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office has identified the 16-year-old found shot dead inside of his car near an Interstate exit on Saturday, July 23.
“The decedent sustained gunshot wound injuries during a reported assault and, later found inside a motor vehicle parked on the shoulder of the interstate,” Deputy Coroner Bill Yates stated. “The death is being investigated as a homicide therefore, all questions regarding the circumstances surrounding the death should be made to the Birmingham Police Department.”
A female person of interest turned herself in to West Precinct BPD officers shortly after Jemison was found, according to an earlier report by Public Information Officer Truman Fitzgerald. That person’s identity has not been released.
