BIRMINGHAM — An 18-year-old was killed in a Birmingham shooting on Tuesday, July 26, at approximately 8:45 p.m.
According to the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office, Daniel Edward Fowler, of Birmingham, sustained gunshot wound injuries during a reported assault.
North Precinct officers were dispatched to the 1400 Block of 21st Street North on a report of shots fired.
“While officers were en route, they were notified that a vehicle had wrecked at the bottom of an apartment complex parking lot,” Officer Truman Fitzgerald said. “Officers arrived on the scene when they observed a wrecked vehicle.”
Fowler was lying outside of the vehicle, unresponsive, suffering an apparent gunshot wound. Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel arrived on the scene and pronounced Fowler dead.
Currently, there is no one in custody.
The Birmingham Police Department is investigating the circumstances surrounding the death. This is Birmingham’s 6th homicide in 4 days.
