DEKALB COUNTY — A single-vehicle crash claimed the life of a pedestrian on Thursday, August 4, at approximately 9:10 p.m.
According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA), Pedro Cazares-Castaneda, 50, of Rainsville, was fatally injured when he was struck by a grey sports utility vehicle (SUV) while standing in the roadway.
The vehicle left the crash scene and is unknown at this time. Cazares-Castaneda was pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash occurred on Alabama 176 near Dekalb County 297, approximately six miles south of Fort Payne.
Nothing further is available as Troopers with the ALEA Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
