TRUSSVILLE — A Trussville Police Department (TPD) motor scout was involved in a crash on Thursday, August 25, around 7:30 a.m.
According to the TPD, the crash occurred on Husky Parkway at the Trussville Civic Center.
“Our motor unit was in the Civic Center parking lot, waiting to exit onto Husky Parkway,” Lieutenant Clint Riner said. “A vehicle attempting to pull into the Civic Center cut the turn short and hit the motorcycle which was stationary at a stop sign.”
Witnesses state that the officer was walking around shortly after the accident, but the officer was transferred to St. Vincent’s in Birmingham. The officer’s has reportedly broken his wrist.
Riner said both vehicles will be towed from the scene.
Because the crash involved a TPD officer, the Irondale Police Department is on the scene to work the accident investigation. The Trussville and Irondale police departments had previously enacted a cooperative agreement for cases such as this.
The story will be updated when more information.
